Bio

Not exactly sure of what I wanted to do as an 18 year old, I took a Chemistry degree knowing I was 'ok' at the subject and that I would have plenty of career options as a graduate. As an undergraduate I spent some valuable time in industry and enjoyed researching for my master's dissertation so much that accepted a scholarship to remain in the group of Prof Steven Bull for the PhD. I took on several casual teaching roles during the next four years to supplement my stipend, really enjoying the chance to demonstrate labs and supervise tutorials. To be honest, I enjoyed it a lot more that the lab-research, and so when a part-time fellowship coincided with my writing-up period I jumped at the chance to expand and formalise my teaching portfolio. This started my independent academic career and led to the exciting projects shared within these pages.

Away from work I live in the not-so-little commuter village of Barrow-Upon-Soar with my wife Charlotte. We met at Bath and she also holds a Chemistry PhD, working as a regulatory affairs consultant in the "real-world". We are both avid drinkers and a little obsessed with travelling the globe! Additionally, I am obsessed with trains and planes and love to de-stress by watching my tropical fish navigate their Asian biotope aquarium.
